Accelerated Reader
Anthem students can participate in a reading incentive program called Accelerated Reader. The students take the "STAR" reading diagnostic test at the beginning of each school year. The test will determine the appropriate reading level for each student. After receiving their reading level, students will set point goals. Each title in the program is worth a certain amount of points. The students will choose a book within their reading range to read and then follow up with a comprehension quiz. The quiz is completed on the computer. The students will receive a report with their score and points earned. Readers can earn prizes for the points. Students will review their reading goals every quarter and adjust as needed. Our library has many titles for students to choose from. All Accelerated Reader books have a colored dot on the spine to identify the reading level. Most teachers request that students check out at least one Accelerated Reader book when they visit the library.
