Be a Reader!
The ability to read fluently is connected with success in all subject areas. The Library Media Center wants to encourage every child to read 10-20 minutes every night before going to sleep. This activity not only helps children become better readers, but has a dual purpose, it is a nice calming activity for bedtime. If your child thinks they hate reading. Send them to Mrs. Holehan-Kopas in the LMC. I always tell them, "If you hate reading, it's because you have not found the genre (type) you like to read." I will talk with your child about their interests, and I will not give up until I find what kind of literature excites your child. Let's be partners. I'll find something your child will like reading. I need you to encourage your child to read. Remember, modeling is the best form of teaching. If parents read, children will read. Family reading times are enjoyable for everyone. Call me or email me if you need suggestions. Start tonight! Search for books in our Anthem Online Catalog InfoCentre http://anlibrary.dvusd.org/InfoCentre/Library.do?library=ANlibrary 1609 |
